Mervin Mayo – the Richmond, Virginia cop and preacher who went viral in 2020 with millions of views of him seated in uniform at a portable keyboard, belting out gospel songs at a church rehearsal performed Marvin Sapp’s “Never would have made it” which transformed him into an overnight sensation on social media. Also, known as the Gospel Cop, Mervin began playing the piano at the age of 13. Since then, Mervin has ministered gospel music across the country performing with National Recording Artists such as: Le’Andria Johnson, Dr. Shirley Caesar, Ernest Pugh, Ricky Dillard, Wes Morgan and many others. His raspy tenor, fluctuating between tender high notes and gritty low ones, fills the air with hues of treasured soul men such as David Ruffin, Bobby Womack, and The Dells’. All of this comes with a palette of classic soul and `90s R&B colors saturated with a passionate message of faith. Mayo’s raw and intense old school vocals which slide from husky baritone growls to sweet falsetto sighs has made him a sought after male singer across the country. Over the past few years Mervin has released several popular singles, such as "I Need You Lord", "Bow Down", “Christmas Time is Here”, “The Best Friend” and the Hit single "God Did it". Most recently Mervin appeared on Americas Got Talent and received 4 yes votes from Simon, Terry and the other judges. Minister Mayo is married to Mechelle Mayo. They have three beautiful Children who are equally devoted to spreading the word of Jesus Christ.
